Summer Mission Trip 2013

This summer, both ROCK and WAVE will be traveling to Live Oak, Florida! Live Oak was hit hard by Tropical Storm Debby and sustained major flood damage. Last June, roughly 80% of Live Oak was underwater during the height of the rain and countless people were displaced from their homes.

Dates

ROCK: June 22-29, 2013
WAVE: July 6-13, 2013

Cost

$185 (due May 1)
After May 1 – Cost goes up to $200 (due May 8)

Grad Sunday 2013

Grad Sunday 2013

Congregation:

Join us as we celebrate our high school and college graduates! There will be a cake reception between services in the Fellowship Hall (downstairs). Students are encouraged to attend both services.

Parents of High School and College Graduates:

It’s that time of year again. The time when planning for open houses and the anticipation of graduation takes hold (Were you trying not to think about it yet? Sorry). In celebration of our graduates, RRCYM likes to do something extra special by creating a booklet that will be placed in each person’s church mailbox containing pictures of your graduate, a letter or prayer request from you to your son or daughter, and open house information. Each graduate will be allotted one page. Please take this opportunity to celebrate your graduate with us as a church! Letters MUST to be emailed to Trisha by Sunday, May 12!

Please include in the letter your graduate’s full name, your names, where they are planning to go to school (or their future plans), what they are planning on majoring in, a message/prayer, and open house information (if open house info is something you want published).

Bible Drive

Have any extra Bibles lying around the house? Please collect them and bring them to the Youth Room. We will be sending them to “Bible Senders”, which in turn sends them to missionaries around the world who desperately need the word of God to lead others to Christ!

The annual church garage sale to support Rockford Reformed Church Youth Ministries is coming up! Money raised at the garage sale will go towards supporting the youth summer mission trips.

Time to start spring cleaning? To make this year another great success we need your stuff! So clean out those closets and bring your “junk” to church!

Items can be dropped off March 11-15. Signs in the Family Life Center will show you where to place your items. Donation receipt forms will be available.

Monday & Tuesday: 8am-4pm
Wednesday: 8am-8pm
Thursday & Friday: 8am-4:30pm

Volunteer to help set up and run the sale!

On Thursday (2:00-4:30pm) and Friday (9:00am-6:00pm), we need as many people as possible to help get everything set up. Please indicate what time you will be there when signing up.

On Saturday (March 16), we need people to help during the sale at the counter and as cashiers. We need 5 people from 8:30am-12:00pm, and 5 people from 12:00-3:00pm.

If you are on the Table, please sign up there. Look for it in the Serve section of the Church tab (you should see it immediately when you log in). If you are not on the table, please sign up by emailing connections.rrc@gmail.com.

WAVE and ROCK

This event is an easy way that our entire church can support you! We need you to help set up during these times:

WAVE: Friday, March 15 (3:30-6pm)

$65 due February 17. Please place in the RRCYM mailbox.

Departure time: 6pm on Friday, Feb. 22. Please eat dinner before you arrive and make sure to bring your red RRCYM consent form (IF you received one in the mail). You cannot go without this.

Return time: 12pm on Sunday, Feb. 24.

ROCK and WAVE Mission Trip Info

This year ROCK and WAVE will again be working with the CRWRC Disaster Response services. Because of the unpredictable nature of disasters we do not yet know where we will be placed this summer. It is likely that it will be somewhere on the East Coast but we will let you know as soon as we have info from our contacts…which should be this spring (March/April).

Right now what you can do is plan on the trip being the 2nd or 3rd week of July for middle school and the 3rd or 4th week of June for high school.

Grow in God’s Word

Grow logoBeginning in January, middle and high school students will have a chance to earn money for their accounts through our new Grow program. Grow packets are available in the Youth Room. Read God’s word, write what you learned, hand Grow sheet in. Simple.

Start growing now!

Grow packets provide a month’s worth of scripture passages to read. Each day, read the Bible verses that are given. Then spend some time writing what you learned, how you can apply what you read, or a quick prayer to God in the box provided. You may complete as many or as few as you wish, but credit is only given if three complete weeks are turned in (each week is worth $5).
