 Parent Updates

KLC – December 6, 2017

For the next few weeks, as we prepare for the Christmas season, we will not only be looking at the story of the first Christmas, but we’ll also be singing some of the songs of the season. Tonight’s lesson was Away in a Manger. A manger is the trough that farm animals eat out of. Hardly an appropriate crib for a newborn baby; especially, a newborn King. Luke 2:1-7

Memory Verse:
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests..” – Luke 2:14

Reminders:
  • Our Christmas Program takes place on December 20. Dinner in the gym at 6:00pm, program in the sanctuary at 6:45pm.

KLC – November 29, 2017

For the next few weeks, as we prepare for the Christmas season, we will not only be looking at the story of the first Christmas, but we’ll also be singing some of the songs of the season. Tonight’s lesson was Joy To The World. An angel who visited Mary had good news to share. She would give birth to a baby. This child would be King, and His kingdom would last forever. That’s definitely a reason to be joyful! Luke 1:26-38

We took a break form our Bible Heroes this week to do a special lesson for Thanksgiving. In our Pumpkin Pie lesson, we learned that we can be thankful for God’s love and care. We need an attitude of gratitude! Treats like pumpkin pie are tasty but gone before we know it. We can be thankful for God’s love – which is sweet and lasts forever.

Memory Verse:
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.” – Psalms 136:1

Reminders:
  • There is NO KidLife Club next week, November 22. Have a happy Thanksgiving!

Here are a few photos from our Thanksgiving Fun Feast where we made Blessing Mixes to share with others!

KLC – November 8, 2017

We are on week 5 of our Bible Heroes series, learning that Big Heroes serve a Big God. Tonight, kids learned about the importance of humility through the story of Moses (Exodus 18:9-27). Moses is one of the greatest names in all of the Bible and in all of history. Moses’ story has many big moments: the burning bush, the plagues in Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea, the giving of the Ten Commandments. But even a big, important hero like Moses had moments where he recognized that he couldn’t do it all. When his father-in-law, Jethro, visited Moses, Jethro advised him to share the responsibilities of leading the Israelite people with other judges. Moses was humble enough to take Jethro’s advice. When we are willing to be humble, like Moses, we can be heroes too.

Memory Verse: “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” – James 4:10

Reminders:
  • Have your child bring back their memory verse journals every week!

KLC – November 1, 2017

We are on week 4 of our Bible Heroes series, learning that Big Heroes serve a Big God. Tonight, kids learned about the importance of leadership through the story of Deborah (Judges 4:4-5:3). Deborah was a prophet who led the people of Israel during a time before they had a king. People respected her leadership and would go to her to settle their disputes. When Deborah instructed Barak to go into battle against the enemy, he would only do so under her leadership. Under her strong, yet compassionate leadership, the Israelites prevailed. When we are willing to help and lead others, we can be heroes like Deborah.

Memory Verse: The Books of the Bible

Reminders:
  • Have your child bring back their memory verse journals every week!
  • Parent pickup: kids need to be picked up in the Sanctuary. Entrance A will be unlocked at 7:40pm. Kids will not be allowed to leave and go to the gym without a parent. If you want your child to meet you in the gym, you will need to wait until a leader is available to walk them there after the rest of the children have been picked up. Please understand this is for the safety of the children.

KLC – October 18, 2017

We are on week 3 of our Bible Heroes series, learning that Big Heroes serve a Big God. Tonight, kids learned about the importance of forgiving others through the story of Joseph (Genesis 45:1-15). Joseph had every reason to be hard-hearted toward his brothers. They had despised him and sold him into slavery. But years later, when Joseph encountered his brothers, he extended grace and forgiveness to them – in the process saving them from a severe famine. When we are willing to forgive like Joseph, we can be heroes too.

Memory Verse: “Forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” – Colossians 3:13

Reminders:
  • Next week is Spark in the Dark!
  • Have your child bring back their memory verse journals every week!
  • Parent pickup: kids need to be picked up in the Sanctuary. Entrance A will be unlocked at 7:40pm. Kids will not be allowed to leave and go to the gym without a parent. KLC – October 11, 2017

We are on week 2 of our Bible Heroes series, learning that Big Heroes serve a Big God. Tonight, kids learned about the virtue of faithfulness through the story of Abraham (Genesis 15:1-6). God promised that Abraham would be the father of a great nation – that his descendants would be God’s chosen people. The only problem was that Abraham was an old man with no children. Despite the seemingly impossible promise, Abraham had faith in God. With unceasing faith in God, we can be heroes like Abraham.

Memory Verse: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” – Hebrews 12:1

Reminders:

For the first few months, we will be studying Bible Heroes and learning that Big Heroes serve a Big God. Tonight, kids learned about the virtue of obedience through the story of Noah (Genesis 6:9-7:5). God had some instructions for a man named Noah: build an ark, gather animals to live in it, and begin the human race all over again. It was a big job for a big hero. And like Noah, big heroes obey God. Click on the “make it stick” button above for more ideas on how to continue the conversation at home.

Welcome to the first night of KidLife Club! We are so excited to be sharing Christ with your child on Wednesday nights! Each week there will be Bible lessons, skits, large group games, object lessons, small group discussions, activities, and gym time.

Tonight’s kickoff activity was to paint kindness rocks for The Kindness Rocks Project (learn more about them on their website). Each child decorated a rock with encouraging words or pictures. We will be placing these rocks around the church grounds to provide encouragement and kind words to others.

Be sure to ask your kids about our 4 Expectations, and see if they remember the motions:
1. hands to self
2. face the front
3. indoor voices
4. respect the speaker
