Pastor David Dethmers

David DethmersI’ve been serving as a Specialized Transition Minister since April of 2012, after serving congregations in New Jersey, New York, and Colorado and serving the Reformed Church in America in International Ministries for a dozen years. It gives me great joy to share God’s word with people who are hungry for it and to help congregations hear and pursue God’s calling on their lives.

My wife, Anna, and I live in Canadian Lakes and love living in the midst of God’s magnificent creation. I enjoy hiking, biking, reading, and just hanging out by our river.

My favorite Bible verse: Micah 6:8 – “God has shown you what is good. And what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God!!” If that isn’t the key to a fulfilled life, I don’t know what is!

One Sunday Pentecost Offering

The Pentecost offering, to be received on June 8, 2014, provides an opportunity for you, your church, and your classis to partner in the miraculous work of the Holy Spirit by starting new RCA congregations in the United States and Canada. It is 1,100 congregations coming together in prayer, in commitment, and with expectancy in the weeks leading up to the Pentecost offering on One Sunday.

Your gifts will be multiplied and shared to support local church planting efforts by your church or in your classes.

Please join us in this celebration of Pentecost, recognizing this one sunday, Pentecost, Sunday, can change a life, can change a city, can change the world.

Spring Gardening

Gardening Day

May 2 & 3, 2014 rain or shine!

Spring Gardening This Weekend!

Sorry for the short notice, but spring is here and we don’t want to waste any time! Let’s all help get the church grounds looking fresh for Pastor Rick’s open house on May 10. Wood chips are being delivered and will be ready to spread this Friday and Saturday morning, May 2 & 3, rain or shine.

Any help we can get would be greatly appreciated! Even if just for an hour – it all adds up! We will be here on Friday at 9am and Saturday at 8am. If enough people show up we should have no problem getting it all done by noon on Saturday.

If you have them, don’t forget to bring your rakes, shovels, pitchforks, brooms, blowers, wheelbarrows, etc.

Thank you in advance! If you have any questions, please call Scott Jacobs, 866-6318, or Scott Brownell, 866-6570.

Urgent Need in Haiti

Hope House Wall

The wall around the Hope House compound MUST be moved by orders of the mayor’s office. There is an URGENT need to raise between $100,000 and $150,000 to complete this project in a safe and timely manner. If HFAP doesn’t move the wall by the deadline, the mayor’s office will knock it down themselves.

Haiti is very busy expanding and improving roads which is why the wall must be moved. This is an extremely large undertaking for the Haiti Foundation Against Poverty because their kitchen, supply depot, and residence are next to this wall. The security of the compound and the safety of the children and adults that live and work there are at risk.

Please consider donating at www.haitipoverty.org. Every dollar donated will be doubled by an anonymous donor! To follow the developing situation, please go to www.haitifoundationagainstpoverty.blogspot.com. Thank you and God bless you!
