Organic Outreach

Saturday, April 28, 2018 • 8:30am-4:00pm

From Pastor Tim’s update:

We celebrate some quality, ongoing ministries but we also know that we want to make progress in Christ’s mission of making disciples. Toward this mission, our leaders acknowledged a need for our church family to become equipped for connecting with neighbors, friends, and co-workers, and one of the best ways to do that is coming to Western Michigan on April 28. Daybreak Church in Hudsonville is hosting an Organic Outreach Conference. RRC has adopted various elements of Organic Outreach over the last several years and I would love to see us fully implement this highly regarded and natural approach for developing meaningful relationships and conversations. It would be great if a large group of us could participate in this event together. The cost is $49 and it includes lunch, conference materials, and a book. You can register directly at the link here or sign up through the office and we are glad to cover the registration fee. We recognize that this is one of the best opportunities we will see for our church family to become equipped for outreach in our community.

From Organic Outreach International:

Organic Outreach for Ordinary People Conference

More than anything, Christians want to see other people come to Christ. So why do most of us find it so difficult to join in making that happen?

The truth is, God is the One who brings people to Himself. But as He invites you and me to join Him in that process, we can experience one of life’s greatest joys! It doesn’t have to be difficult because He wants to use us just the way He made us—bringing others closer to Christ, one step at a time!

Come join other Christ-followers from local churches at a one day Organic Outreach for Ordinary People Conference. Together, we’ll join hearts and minds for a day of inspiration, fun, collaboration and practical insights.

Graduation Sunday

Sunday, May 20, 2018

Congregation: Join us as we celebrate our high school and college graduates!

Parents of High School and College Graduates: It’s that time of year again – the time when open houses and the anticipation of graduation takes hold. In celebration of our graduates, RRCYM likes to do something extra special by creating a booklet containing pictures of your graduate, a letter or prayer request from you to your son or daughter, and open house information. Each graduate will be allotted one page. Please take this opportunity to celebrate your graduate with us as a church!

Letters MUST be emailed to Laura Jolliffe by Sunday, May 13.

Please indicate in the letter your graduate’s full name, your names, where they are planning to go to school (or their future plans), what they are planning on majoring in, a message/prayer, and open house information (if open house info is something you want published). You may either format your page yourself (please send as a pdf file) or you can send the info and photos to Laura for layout. Please contact Laura Jolliffe with any questions.

One Sunday

Sunday, May 20, 2018

For the past several years we have participated in the RCA “One Sunday” Pentecost Offering. This offering provides opportunities to support local church planting efforts. To participate, please use your “special offering” envelope from your packet (or a pew envelope), mark it “Pentecost Offering,” and place it in the offering plate. Make checks payable to Rockford Reformed Church, and be sure your name and/or offering envelope number is on the envelope. You may also give online – just choose the One Sunday option.

Join us in this celebration of Pentecost, recognizing that one Sunday can change a life, change a city, and change the world.

What is One Sunday?
One Sunday is a way for you to support local church planting efforts. Every year on Pentecost, we celebrate church planting in the RCA through the One Sunday offering. The RCA has planted 87 new churches since 2013.

What does Pentecost have to do with church planting?
Pentecost celebrates the birth of the church in Jerusalem through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. This was the beginning of the first church planting movement. The Jerusalem church soon spread to Samaria, then Antioch, then places like Philippi. Philippi was the first church planted in Europe, whose churches later planted the gospel in the United States and Canada.

How can I help?
Making a One Sunday offering on May 20 is a way for you, your church, and your classis to partner in the work of the Holy Spirit by starting new churches. You’ll be joining hundreds of other people in supporting the work of the Holy Spirit in RCA church plants through a One Sunday offering.

What else can I do to help?
With your gifts and continued prayer, you can become part of the network of people who help church plants and planters thrive. Throughout the coming year, you’ll see how your support helps church plants bring people closer to Christ.
