Adult Sunday School

Sundays, 11:15am

Digging Deeper
Fireside Room #253
September 15, 2019 – May 3, 2020

Our Digging Deeper Sunday School is a series of discussions based on each Sunday’s sermon. Each week’s leader will guide you in conversation that will let you learn from each other, discuss what you can learn from the sermon on a deeper level, and help you grow in your understanding in how to carry out God’s purpose for your lives. Types of questions you might discuss are…
  • What were the main points or take-aways of the sermon?
  • What are some questions you have?
  • Did you have any “Aha!” moments during the sermon?
  • How has the sermon challenged you, affirmed what you have been thinking, comforted you, or changed you?
  • What will you plan to do to apply your take-aways into this week and beyond?

Several times throughout the year we will be inviting the High School group to join us as we work toward more cross-generational interaction in our programming.  Adults are also invited to join the High School Youth Group (Sundays, 6:30-8pm) on the following dates: Oct 6, Dec 8, Feb 23, and April 19.

Bible Studies – Tuesdays

Tuesdays • 9:30-11:00am

Relying on the Holy Spirit:
Discover Who He Is and How He Works (begins March 3, 2020)
Led by Marcia Coleman & Carol Knox, Room 212

It’s not a bad thing for Christians to respond to the Holy Spirit with wide-eyed wonder. Certainly, the Holy Spirit should inspire our awe and admiration. Unfortunately, for many believers these feelings of wonder come about as a result of puzzlement instead of adoration. But the truth of the matter is that the role of the Holy Spirit does not have to be a mystery in our lives and we will miss out greatly on God’s power if we choose to ignore Him. In Relying on the Holy Spirit, Charles F. Stanley cuts through the confusion and introduces us to a living Person as real and active as God the Father and Christ the Son. We can know what God’s Word says about who the Spirit is–and how to develop a relationship with Him.

SeptemberFest

Sunday, September 8, 2018

Sunday, September 8 is our annual SeptemberFest! We will once again have our worship service outdoors, so dress for the weather. It’s forecasted to be a bit chilly, so wear something warm! Please bring chairs if you can – maybe even extras to share with those who don’t bring their own. We will have folding chairs available for those who need them. KidLife Worship and nursery will be available.

After service, it’s time to eat! Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided, along with buns, toppings, tableware, and water. Please bring a dish to share (salads, sides, chips, desserts, etc.). You can drop it off in the gym / kitchen before service. This year, we plan to have the food tables set up in the gym so we don’t have to worry about the wind blowing everything away. Once you get your food, please head back outside to eat. We will have some tables set up, or just circle up the chairs you brought! Please don’t bring chairs into the gym.

We will also be handing out information on all of our various ministries, fall programming, and volunteer opportunities, so this is a good time to learn how to plug into the RRC community and have any questions answered.

Also be on the lookout for:
  • cornhole tournament – signups will be available Sunday
  • bounce houses – we will have one outdoors for the older kids, and one in the gym for kids 5 and under
  • 9 square
  • ice cream table
  • guessing jars for prizes
  • other games and activities – also feel free to bring games of your own!
  • lost and found table in the gym

Hi All Golfers! Monday night golfing at Cedar Chase Golf Course is back on the schedule starting Monday, June 8. Tee times start at 5:30. No special reservation is needed. The $17 for golfing Cedar Chase, a top 25 rated course in Michigan, is courtesy of Michael, the owner/manager up there and is a superb deal. They appreciate our business! If anyone has a neighbor or friend to invite, Cedar is ok with that and it’s an opportunity for some fellowship time.

Hope to see you guys and gals up there on Mondays thru-out the summer and into the fall. If you have any questions, give me a call. Cell: 616-204-3858.

Dinner Mixer

Saturday, May 18, 2019 • 6pm in the gym

You are invited! We are hosting a dinner & game night open to all adults and high schoolers (no childcare provided). Why? To have fun and get to know each other! We are hoping to get a wide mix of people. We know it is short notice, but please RSVP by Tuesday if you would like to attend! You can sign up at church Sunday or notify the church office any time before Tuesday night.

The game we will be playing during dinner is The Great Dalmuti:

Life isn’t fair. And neither is The Great Dalmuti. In one round you’re at the top of the heap, and in the next you could be peasant scum. In this fast-paced game of medieval one-upmanship, players take their places in the pecking order, from Greater Peon to Greater Dalmuti. But the roles change in every round, so get rid of the cards in your hand fast. The quicker you rid yourself of your cards, the higher you’ll go. But don’t get comfortable in the cushy Greater Dalmuti chair because even the lowliest peon can unseat you and boot you out the door. Sounds unfair, sure it is. But the sweet taste of victory could make it all worthwhile. This short, fast-paced, fun card game is easy to learn and play.
