Operation Christmas Child

Due Sunday, November 12, 2017

Operation Christmas Child boxes are now available for pick-up! There is a table located in the lobby with boxes and a flyer with information. Please remember to mark if the box is for a girl or boy and add the shipping money ($9). Boxes need to be turned back into church in the lobby by November 12, 2017 to ensure proper delivery.

Since 1993, more than 100 million boys and girls in over 130 countries have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child. Samaritan’s Purse works with local churches and ministry partners to deliver the gifts and share the life-changing Good News of Jesus Christ.

Packing your shoebox:

1. Use the box we have provided (or any empty shoebox of average size). Pray for the child who will receive your gift.

2. Determine whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl, and the child’s age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Use the appropriate boy/girl label from the brochure we provided. Mark the correct age category on the label and tape it to the top of your box.

Run the 5K, walk the 5K, or walk just the first mile and end up by the cookies! Prizes donated by Gazelle Sports. Get more info and register at teamorphans.com/5k.

We need cookie bakers and race day volunteers! Bring cookies to the church kitchen by 4pm on Friday, July 21. Contact Rebecca Cruttenden (email below) for specific needs.

Candy Cane Commitment

candy-cane-treeStop by the lobby and pick up a candy cane to remind you of your commitment to pray for and support Jorvens financially.

Thank you for your continued love and support of Jorvens. Jorvens came to the states this past summer and was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma. He began treatment shortly thereafter, and the cancer is now 98% gone! Jorvens is very close to  being in complete remission. Although Jorvens lost his sight, he has not lost his zest for life. He brings joy to everyone he encounters and his story continues to touch the hearts of people near and far. You can read about Jorvens’ journey here.

God has a plan for Jorvens, and we are a part of that plan. We are hoping that RRC can help see this mission through. Thanks to your previous givings, all of the emergency medical costs have been covered. We are now in the phase of paying for the cost of the ongoing treatments, estimated to be $50,000. We would like to continue using our benevolent fund to pay for the remainder of Jorvens’ medical bills and to secure a safe and smooth transition when he returns to Haiti in May or June of 2017.

We are not in this alone; other organizations and individuals that have been touched by Jorvens’ story are actively raising funds this December as well. Please consider making a special offering in December. You can designate your gift to Jorvens in the memo line of your check or on your envelope. If you have questions on the tax-deductibility of your donation, please ask for a copy of our Benevolent Fund Policy. Please make checks out to Rockford Reformed Church.

Thank you, and know that you are playing a significant role in the life of one of His children!

Thanksgiving Baskets

baskets2015-530

Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016

On Sunday, November 13, there will be bags available, provided by North Kent Community Services, for you to take and fill with food item donations. The donations need to be back to church by Sunday, November 20.

This year we have set a goal for 150 frozen turkeys. We don’t have room to store that many at church, so if possible, please bring them to church on November 20. We will have people in the parking lot ready to pack up the donated items and take them to North Kent. Other items can be placed in the lobby any time before November 20.
