Our Youth Room is undergoing a face-lift.

We are currently auditioning used couches to take the place of our old ones.

If you have a couch that you think might make the cut, let us know! We aren’t looking for perfection, but we would like something in better shape than what we have. Keep an eye on Craigslist as well – let us know if you see a good deal!

The Cross – A Revelation of Christ’s Character

For this Lenten program, we will wean our eyes away from ourselves and focus on the attributes of Christ as revealed in His word. Throughout the morning, we will get to know Christ better, increase our trust in His promises, and learn to take on His character as we live in the power of His Holy Spirit. All the women in your life (teens and up) are encouraged to attend! Don’t forget to bring your Bible!

Update: Click here for a recap of the morning!

What is Lent?

The season of Lent is once again here with us. Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday, February 18, is the 40-day period when Christians fast and pray and do penance in preparation for Easter, Sunday, April 5. It is commonly perceived as a time of giving up what one normally enjoys eating, drinking, and/or doing, often with a worthy charitable cause benefiting from this abstinence. However, Lent is a spiritual marathon of self-denial, reflection, and repentance. The emphasis is on individual redemption more than on social reformation.
  • Lent is a season of soul-searching and repentance. It is a season for reflection and taking stock.
  • During Lent we are to reflect on what needs to be changed in our lives if we are to be faithful Christians. The season calls us to rededicate ourselves to God.
  • Lent should awaken life in our mind, bodies, and spirit. Just as spring awakens life in the earth, we too must be awakened and tune in with God to allow the indwelling Christ to do His will in our lives.
  • By observing the forty days of Lent, the individual Christian imitates Jesus’ withdrawal into the wilderness for forty days.
  • All Christians are encouraged to take this season’s observances very seriously and participate in Lenten programs and daily devotions.
