Caravan Offering

Each week we encourage children to get in the habit of giving back to God. Maybe they can earn some money at home and work on a give, spend, save plan. It’s a great way to show that kids can give back!
 
Here is what our offering will look like this year (2014-2015). We have chosen some organizations and activities for the kids in Caravan to be a part of, both locally and worldwide.
  • Through the end of October, we will be collecting food items and monetary donations (used to buy more food) to take along with us to Kids Food Basket. More info to come.
  • In mid-September, Operation Christmas Child boxes will be handed out to families who are interested in being a part of filling a shoe box. Boxes will be due November 16.
  • October through March, any monetary donations that are given will go towards gifts (through Samaritans Purse) around Easter time. We will have a fun voting activity to go along with this.

Thanksgiving Community Dinner

Thursday, November 27, 2014 • 12 noon

Our annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner is open to everyone in the community. If you don’t have a place to spend Thanksgiving, spend it with us! We will serve a traditional hot meal, and there will be fun for the whole family. Thursday, November 27, 2014, in the Family Life Center (gym). Arrival, Thanksgiving Blessing, and meal service begin at 12pm. If you have any questions or would like to let us know you are coming, please call the church at 616-866-2308.

If you consider yourself at all handy, come use your gifts to fix up and maintain our beautiful church! The building and grounds are in need of miscellaneous improvements, fix-ups, and touchups.
 
Some of the tasks include:
  • fall cleanup outside
  • drywall patching
  • trim baseboard completion – need a saw and some trim fastening
  • possible roofing project – in the attic – caulking?
  • ceiling tile replacement
  • possible outdoor painting or caulking project
  • misc repairs – walkthrough

Also needed:

  • A refrigerator for the youth room. The only requirement is that it works!
  • Do you have the gift of geek? We could use some more IT help – making policy, setup/config of computers/network, and anything else tech. Please contact Tom Cruttenden.

Pioneer Clubs 2014-2015 kicks off on Wednesday, September 17 with a pizza party! Join us in the gym at 6pm for pizza, followed by our kick-off meeting at 6:30 in the Sanctuary. Parents are encouraged to stay the whole evening.

All-Church Leadership and Volunteer Training
 

Wednesday, August 20, 2014 • 6-8pm

Get oriented, get motivated, get ready to kick off a great year of ministry together!
 
 
Don’t miss this important training and team-building event for all church leaders and volunteers. Whatever your role (usher, teacher, Ministry Team member, music leader, Consistory, Bible study leader, Children’s Ministries, Youth Ministries, Worship Team, staff) your presence is important! Child care will be provided. Please sign up here and, if you need child care, please indicate how many children you’ll be bringing with you.
 
During hour one, we’ll all be meeting together in the sanctuary. We’ll learn what the Bible has to teach us about serving. We’ll take a look at Leadership Principles that distinguish Christian ministry from volunteering. We’ll make sure all of us understand how to create a safe and caring environment for everyone who enters our doors.
 
During hour two you will meet with the team members you serve with (see breakout sessions below). If you’re on more than one team, choose to attend the team that is your primary responsibility and let your other team leader know why you won’t be attending. They’ll probably have some important handouts to share with you.
 
We’re looking forward to an important training and team-building time together. Please choose to invest in your ministry here at RRC by joining us!

Youth Ministry Update 07-25-14

As many of you know, Ben Gandy has resigned his position as Youth Director to attend seminary. Ben’s last day with us will be Sunday, August 10th. Please join us for a farewell for Ben between the services in the Family Life Center that day, beginning about 10 AM. Ben will be attending Calvin Theological Seminary beginning later in August. We wish him and Lindsay God’s presence and blessing as they begin this new chapter in their faith journey!
