Family Spotlight: The Pilkos

From our July/August 2012 newsletter

Attending since Fall of 2008 • Eric and Becki Pilko began attending Rockford Reformed Church in the fall of 2008 when they moved to the north side of Grand Rapids. They were drawn to the Well because of its warm, welcoming community and the engaging messages being shared. In the fall of 2009 they started helping out with the high school youth ministry and have enjoyed getting to know the students at Rockford Reformed. The Pilkos feel blessed to have found a church home at RRC. They have found the congregation and its leadership to have a deep faith and to be extremely supportive of one another. They love and enjoy that the RRC community welcomes asking and exploring tough questions and engaging in discussion.

Becki grew up in the Christian Reformed faith in Holland, Michigan, while Eric grew up as a Catholic in Cleveland, Ohio. They met at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio while in a production of Twelfth Night, but didn’t actually start dating until they met up again in Dublin, Ireland, where they were both studying abroad. They were married in 2006 and welcomed a daughter, Aurelia, in November of 2010. As a family, they do lots of traveling (with extended family being so spread out). They love to read to Aurelia and spend lots of time chasing her around outside (Aurelia’s favorite place to be!).

Eric teaches science at Rockford High School and has degrees in both education and evolutionary biology. Becki is a graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School and works for Ionia County.

The Pilkos have developed many invaluable relationships at Rockford Reformed Church. They have made good friends and feel that they are constantly growing in their relationship with Christ through the wonderful people there.
